Yeongsan Hoesang (ÖÄߣüåßÓ) has been performed as the banquet music (æÃäÅ), a part of the court music, since the reign of King Sejo (á¦ðÓ) of the early Joseon Dynasty.

Three formats of Yeongsan Hoesang are still remaining: Hyeonak Yeongsan Hoesang, Pyeongjo Hoesang, and Gwanak Yeongsan Hoesang.

It is understood that other two formats were either modulated or transposed from Hyeonak Yeongsan Hoesang, and they are different in terms of orchestration, arrangement, use of music, and some of the melodies.

Pyeongjo Hoesang is usually performed with gayageum, geomungo, hyangpiri, daegeum, haegum, and janggo, along with ajaeng and jwago. In this album, two instruments are played, gayageum and saenghwang.
